Laura and I started dating in the summer of 2003 and in the summer of 2004 we were in Las Vegas for a vacation and decided to drive out to LA to visit a friend (my best man Gil). We went to Best Buy and loaded up on some new CD’s. At the time “The OC” was a huge show, and yes we were both huge fans. “The OC” soundtrack was out, and since this was Laura’s first time to California, we could not have thought of a better soundtrack. We heard a song on the cd called “Honey and the Moon.” It really move us. So we played it over and over again on the ride back to Las Vegas. This became our song until one night we were told by a friend of ours that the song was about suicide. Oops, who knew? I guess we didn’t really listen to the words that closely.
Long story short, we discovered a new artist that summer, JEM. She had a hit that year called “Just a Ride.” We bought her CD, “Finally Woken,” and discovered track 11 - “Flying High.” Once again we fell in love with another song, this time we listen to the words closely and we found our new song!
